Phaedra Hotel

Phenomenal host in an amazing location. Hilda (the host) in particular was amazing. We ran into weather issues getting to the island (ferry issues) and she was so kind to accommodate us. Then, she made us feel very welcome (we have three kids age 11, 9, and 7) and even with persistent weather issues she helped us figure out the ferry to get back (also not easy, we had tried to call the Port Authority and a few others to figure this out ourselves and could not figure it out, but she knew the right people to call and took care of it for us). Lastly the breakfast was exceptional. I could not recommend her enough. This is an exceptional place.

I thoroughly enjoyed my three night stay at Phaedra Hotel in Hydra and I recommend it highly! My bedroom was spacious and I loved listening to the clip clop of horses & donkeys from the first floor window. I also enjoyed the breakfasts on the second floor terrace. The hotel was centrally located to everything and I always felt safe walking everywhere at night as a single woman. What made this experience a standout for me was that the owner, Hilda, went above and beyond to help me solve a problem that arose at the very beginning of my trip. I did not realize that I had accidentally left my passport in the safe at Phaedra Hotel until I was checking in to a hotel in Athens and I was to fly to a different island to join a retreat the next day. Obviously, without my passport, I would have not been able to do any of this and financial and logistical complications would have ensued. Fortunately, Hilda very kindly and quickly sent my passport (via donkey or human foot, not sure which) to the last ferry leaving the island for the day. The ferry then transported my passport to a taxi in Piraeus and the taxi brought it directly to my Athens hotel. All of this kindness occurring while I wandered around Athens and dined on a delicious meal! I had the MOST spectacular 24 days in Greece and Hilda made this possible because of her big heart. We absolutely loved Hotel Phaedra and Hydra! We stayed in the “budget room” and it was perfect for our quick stay. The hotel staff were all super accommodating and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and the patio set up was so cute! Highly recommend visiting Hydra and staying here! Cannot wait to go back.
