Phuket Merlin Hotel

An old hotel with good facilities. The room are spacious with large free corner. The bed are quite large that you can roll around. Also they maintain the cleanlines in a good level. Another thing is they clean the stairs regularly since I like using the stairs to excersice because most of the hotel closed the stairs area (not for public exept disaster). One thing they need to improve is breakfast variation, especially when you stay here for 1 month, perhaps they can have east or western or japanese or korean menu differently several times in a week (to increase the variation. Overall my stays here is so good with all of the facilities. Thank you Merlin.

The hotel is conveniently located, not too far from the city center, making it easy to get to the old quarter and the night market. However, the hotel was built and has been in operation for 30 years, so the facilities are quite old and somewhat outdated. The room occasionally has a musty smell, but it’s clear that the staff has made great efforts to maintain cleanliness. The breakfast buffet is modest but reasonable for the room price.

Pros: The staff was friendly upon arrival. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and the hotel is 10 minutes away from the city center of Old Phuket. Cons: The room doesn't look like in the photos. As you enter the hotel, a strong smell hits you. And the rooms will get smelly if you don't open your window daily (a mix of old, naphthalene, sewer smell). The bathroom has mold on the ceiling and walls, between the tiles (it is pretty visible). And the AC is integrated into the walls, it is not an independent piece for each room, so I asked myself when was the last time it got cleaned, as I was sneezing a lot in the room, thoug I am not a person prone to allergies, maybe just mold if there is a lot of it.
