Pico do Refúgio

What a charming place to stay! It is a beautiful combination of historic and modern, with stone floors and walls, wooden beams and yet modern kitchen equipment and the most comfortable bed ever! It was a bit hard to find in the dark on our first night, but once we arrived, Ana treated us with a warm welcome and brought us evening snacks. It is very peaceful on a large plot of land . With a car, it is conveniently located for traveling throughout the island.

We had an incredible stay at Pico do Refúgio, enjoying the unique experience of being the only guests for the week in this charming former tea factory. The location, atmosphere, fireplace, and cozy interior truly made our trip special. It was such a pleasure to return after a busy day to a place that felt like home. Ana was a fantastic host, and the service was exceptional. The breakfasts were varied and delicious, and after a couple of delayed flights, we were warmly welcomed with appetizers upon arrival. We especially appreciated the privacy and peacefulness of the place, as well as the stunning surroundings, including Santa Bárbara Beach and Lagoa do Fogo. Simply amazing!

Amazing accommodations, Ana was a wonderful host for our check in and stay. Her recommendations were all hits and any questions we had were answered promptly. The apartment was just what we were looking for and our one year old had tons of fun on the grounds. Central location to see Sao Miguel Island. The breakfast was a great way to start each day. Cant recommend this place enough - we were there in low season and it was quiet and a great deal. Would go back in a heartbeat!
