It's actually a hide out in the wooded area by the roadside close to Dgampatana on Habarana - Dambulla main road. The car park is just inside the boundary wall from where you will be taken to the reception and then your room in an electric (golf) cart. All rooms and chalets are located in the shade. The property is 32 acres in extent. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with good air-conditioning. Large windows allow great views of the surrounding jungle. The bathroom is well appointed too. There's a separate area for tea/coffee making. A large cupboard for your clothes is available opposite the tea/coffee making area. Unlike most resorts a large number of clothes hangers is found inside the cupboard. Adjoining is a very large bathroom by any standard. A stand alone two storey restaurant is available that serves delicious breakfast and dinner. You could get them to prepare lunch for you even though the menu is a relatively small one. A jungle walk is a must if you stay in this resort. You can even step out, and walk outside the property on the village roads - a nice stroll along the gravel tracks. Beware of elephants if you do so in the evening. It would be safer if you have a group.

I m actually writing with deep displeasure what I experienced today at the hotel. I m currently staying in the hotel. When we went have dinner I specifically switched on the AC as I wanted the room to be cool when I come back. To my surprise the AC was switched off when I opened after returning from dinner. I immediately called the reception through my phone because the intercom wasn’t working from the time we checked in. The reception denied they opened the room saying I may have switched off. I m sure I didn’t switch off. They handed over the phone to house keeping supervisor whose name was Thusitha Vikum Chandralal. He was rude and inconsiderate of my concern and denied anyone opening the room. But It’s very hard to believe it’s true. When I asked him how can this happen he continued to confront me over phone saying he don’t know and no one opened the room. They wanted to visit my room and I refused because I was so angry over his rude behavior. I m deeply concerned. I don’t feel safe.

I recently stayed at Pinthaliya Resort in Sigiriya and it was, without exaggeration, the worst resort experience I’ve ever had. At first, things looked promising – we were welcomed with cold towels and refreshing drinks on arrival, which gave me hope that the stay would be pleasant. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of the entire visit. The problems began almost immediately. At night, a swarm of wasps entered our hotel room, which was terrifying and completely unsafe. Outside, frogs gathered around the room, making it impossible to rest or leave the room. The bathroom was in terrible condition – the door would not close properly, and there was a huge ant nest sitting directly on the toilet flush button. The resort grounds were also unsafe, with wild dogs and monkeys roaming everywhere, even waking us up everyday as they fought on the top of our hotel roof, leaving us feeling constantly uneasy. Hygiene was shockingly poor: during breakfast I found dead flies in my juice, and the swimming pool even had squirrels in it. I couldn’t believe this was being maintained as a “resort.” To make matters worse, the staff were rude and unhelpful, showing little concern for guests’ comfort. On top of that, I was charged extra for water, while other guests received it for free – an unfair and unprofessional practice. Overall, Pinthaliya Resort is a complete disaster. Between the unsafe wildlife, unsanitary conditions, broken facilities, rude service, and unfair charges, there is nothing to recommend here. The initial welcome drinks were the only decent part of the stay, but everything afterward was a nightmare. Verdict: 1/5 – Do not waste your money. Stay anywhere else in Sigiriya.
