Playa de la Luz

I'm not saying don't visit Madrid. I am saying take time to get off "the beaten path" and see the real Spain from a coastal point of view. Rota is a beautiful, relaxed little seaside town with great shops, art, bars and restaurants. And the Playa de la Luz will not only welcome and enhance your visit, but will make it comfortable and enjoyable!

Just back from 7 nights stay. A very relaxing, quiet and comfortable stay. The resort is spotless, rooms cleaned perfectly everyday. The hotel is very authentic spanish feel amazing, super chill directly attached to the beach with private loungers available on the boardwalk(if you are quick enough) very peaceful and quite in at all times, the loudest thing we could hear were birds despite our apartment being quite close to the pool and bar. The Hotel is located outside of the main town Rota, 40mins walk or less than €10 taxi. Seville Airport is about 1hr 30mins away. Reception, Kids club and bar staff are very welcoming and helpful at all times. Excellent choice for food onsite (breakfast and dinner are buffet style) excellent selection in both buffets. Food and drinks available at the pool side are also excellent and good value. To note we only paid for breakfast included but stayed onsite first 2 days where we would usually venture elsewhere for food. The only downside we noticed service was more stretch or starve, one of the evenings we waited 45mins after sitting until getting our drink which could be down to lack of staff (only 2/3 working at the same time) Pool was clean and good sized, located just beside the bar so plenty of tables to chill at. Kids club is excellent and caters for all ages.

A lovely hotel for a relaxing stay. We were only there for one night but could have stayed longer. We were in a ‘middle’ grade room and had a nice view of the garden and got sun all day. The pool was lovely but not heated. There was a nice buffet breakfast and two other restaurants to boot. Staff in the bar and reception were friendly. Any problems were soon rectified. You are right on the beach and it’s a 20 minute walk into Rota but also some restaurants nearby. Another interesting thing is that you are in front of the corales. Man made structures built thousands of years ago to make fishing easy by trapping them in the coral at low tide so that they can be easily fished. It still goes on now and you have a ringside view from this hotel. The hotel is a little dated and could be updated but it is spotlessly clean so nothing to worry about there.
