I had an excellent stay at Hotel Plaza in Gelsenkirchen. The experience was truly delightful, with comfortable and well-maintained rooms that made my visit extremely pleasant. The accommodations were spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed, offering everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The staff was friendly, attentive, and always willing to assist with any requests, which added a personal touch to the service. The hotel’s location is also a great advantage, making it convenient for exploring the city. Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Plaza for anyone visiting Gelsenkirchen. It’s a perfect choice for both comfort and quality. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip!
I would give a higher rating but the air conditioning was broken in the whole hotel and they never bothered to tell us. It was 83 degrees in our room for two days. They didn't discount anything, not even the breakfast. It is close to the tram & train station and the rooms were freshly renovated. Breakfast was good
This hotel is a garbage fire. Literally. They set their kitchen on fire at 5AM. The front desk worker told me it was the second time in two weeks. Despite having all guests outside for nearly an hour while the fire department came, they didn't think to call in anyone who could turn the elevators back on. Not a fun trip back to the 10th floor on foot. They didn't offer anything to make up for their screw up. We also smelled burning bacon the next day, so I expect the second fire won't be the last. Additional Issues Rude staff member on check in and check out. No AC(and no change in rate) despite advertising it. Fans provided instead of air con broke. Other information: Hotel seems to be slowly being updated. I got lucky and got a finished floor. I saw some of the others and they seemed... not great. The restaurant food and service were pretty good though. Overall, I think the hotel could be nice, but they seem to be terribly managed. They seem to be trying to be open and undergo pretty extensive renovations and just not up to the task.
