Look closely at all the packages before booking. We only needed accommodation for an overnight stay. Easy to reserve and pay for but overlooked the package at a lesser rate to include parking (£5 a night). The room was very nice and clean, spacious. Decent number of outlets, and small fridge.. We really liked the lamps in headboards. They had bathroom amenities; the body wash and lotion were eucalyptus, smelling too masculine up use. Lots of activity in the hotel for special occasions.
The rooms are spacious, clean, and equipped with most of the amenities you'd expect. The fridge contained a couple of cans of water, which was a nice touch. The internet was acceptable, though speeds were quite low and streaming video content was a struggle. The gym was well equipped and a definite plus, though it's a shame there isn’t a swimming pool. The location is decent if you’re driving, but if you’re planning to explore the area on foot, I’d recommend the Holiday Inn as it’s more centrally located. The restaurant served evening meals of excellent quality – the food was well prepared and presented, although portion sizes could be a little more generous. Unfortunately, breakfast was a letdown. The sausage and bacon were kept in warming dishes, which left them more steamed than cooked. The only egg options were watery scrambled eggs or boiled – no fried or poached in sight. The mushrooms tasted like they came from a tin, and the juices were more like squash than freshly pressed juice. A heated lamp setup would do a better job of keeping breakfast items warm. For a Marriott, the breakfast fell well below expectations – even compared to the 3-star Holiday Inn. Overall, I loved the rooms, appreciated the friendly staff and enjoyed the gym. However, the restaurant – particularly breakfast – left much to be desired.
The hotel rooms are a good size, with a lovely big bathroom and a protected section even when the mirror is steamed up. This was great. A perfect amount of hangers and water is supplied daily to your room. Good facilities, restaurant and bar area. Great food. The staff were all welcoming and friendly. One staff member who stood out for us was Kirstie. Her knowledge of the food menu and hotel was exceptional. We loved every dish she recommended, and she provided excellent service. We also had fun with Tracy, who was great.
