Thank you so much for this fantastic welcome. Both Carolina and Fernando are excellent professionals. Attentive and helpful. The charcuterie, croquettes, and cheese platter... delicious. We may have overdone it with the 10-beer offer 🤣🤣🤣. We'll be back!!!!

The word "hotel" fits the bill perfectly. It's a rural accommodation with the expected charm but with the comforts of a three-star hotel. The owner provides warm service and stoically endures the strict check-ins imposed by the new legislation. The service at both the hotel and the restaurant is friendly, warm, and reflects the rhythms that a small town imposes. Go and enjoy the day, without the rush or stress of the city. The rooms are charming, the bathroom clean and well-equipped, and it's a place I don't see any "buts" about. The air conditioning couldn't be turned on, but I think this was more due to my inability to use 20th-century technology than to the air conditioning itself. We had dinner on the terrace, a special burger that I highly recommend. It has everything that the word "special" implies: egg, ball, and good meat. A pleasant dinner outside. We had a wonderful time, rested well, and both the town of San Martín del Castañar and its surroundings are worth a visit. It's a charming town and well worth a stroll.

Tucked away in the quiet beauty of the Salamanca countryside, Abadía de San Martín is less a tourist destination and more a pause in time. The village is tiny — population dwindling, silence reigning — but therein lies its charm. You don’t come here for shops or attractions. You come for the stone, the stillness, the sense of history settled into every wall. At the center stands a small Romanesque church, modest in size but rich in presence. Weathered stone, simple arches, and the weight of centuries give it a kind of quiet authority. If the door is open, step inside — you’ll find no grandeur, just the honest austerity of an older faith and a space that invites reflection. Surrounding the church are a few houses, fields, and the soft, dry hills of western Castilla. Occasionally, you’ll hear the distant sound of bells or a tractor. Maybe you’ll see a cat on a windowsill. That’s about it — and for some, that’s perfect. Verdict: Not a destination for everyone, but a balm for the noise-weary. Come without expectations and find peace where nothing much happens — and hasn’t, for a long time.
