Posada Real Castillo del Buen Amor

I was here for a 30th anniversary of a business event. What a fabulous venue. A restored castle, so there are some wonderful idiosyncrasies, like ducking through little passageways, and no two rooms being alike that simply add to the charm of the place. It was built as a gift of love many centuries ago, and we had a tour of the castle with a history lesson about the various paintings, etc. We were also treated to a tour of the winery, followed by wine tasting (drinking, actually), and we all drank a lot of the castle wines over the three days the 50 or so of us were there. The couple running it are lovely and took fabulous care of us throughout. Breakfast was plentiful and diverse. Definitely something for everyone, and our evening meals were high quality with friendly and attentive service. They're self-sustaining as they have their own well for water, use a ground source heat pump and generate their own power for their moderate heating, and cooling needs. They have a living maze with hedges for walls and a pool, which was bracing in early June, but would probably be toasty in August. We had a day out in nearby Salamanca, too, which is well worth a visit for hams and little green frogs!

A great place for a special experience. This place feels magical, throwing you back in time. The staff is very friendly, they have amazing wines, great food. Really worth a stay.

Fantastic castle. All you would imagine. We had room number 5. Wow. Probably the best room I have stayed in. Only 1 moan. Like everyone else we had a dog. And of course no dogs in restaurant. Ok. We accepted that however as it was a special occasion for the wife and I,, We wanted to eat a special meal together in the courtyard. We were told no, because only in the restaurant could we have the evening meal. Only the lunch menu in the courtyard . I was not happy so we decided not to have dinner. Also I was going to stay another night, but no I will give my hard earned cash to another hotel and also we were going to buy a couple of bottles of their wine for home. We cancelled that too. All because they couldn't bother to bring My food up 17 stairs. Sorry will not be returning and will not recommend my friends to stay their, SUCH A SHAME
