My wife and I had a wonderful experience at the hotel! The overall infrastructure and the team were amazing. Service: Thiago reached out to us prior to our arrival, and ensured we knew all the details needed. He also turned on the A/C before we arrived (so that we had a refreshing welcome at the hotel). The rest of the team were also very helpful and welcoming! Rooms: the beds were great and the A/C was strong enough to cool down the room. The bathroom was spacious, and it was good to have the sink outside of the bathroom itself. The TV wasn't so big but, to be honest, I didn't see the point in watching TV with so much to do. According to Thiago, they use professional services to avoid having bugs in the room - and considering we were so close to natural life, they did a pretty great job. Food: breakfast was very tasteful with a wide range of options to choose from. You could choose what you wanted for dinner during morning time (so that they would be ready and had no food waste), and they always had an option for regional cuisine, contemporary, vegetarian and kids. Facilities: they have two very nice pools and a river nearby. They also have a billiard table, but we didn't use that (we would rather enjoy the pool and river). Getting there: you have to go through a dirt road to get there, but this is quite common for all of the tour you take in Bonito. It takes about 10-15 min in this road, so it was quite OK considering the other tours. Recommendation: I would definitely rent a car as we often saw ourselves giving other tourists a lift (as tour agencies' transportation may not be as convenient as one would think). Plus, you're not forced into booking loads of tours in a day. So, I would definitely rent a car and avoid booking so many tours (because you would really want to enjoy the breakfast at the hotel and it's facilities in the afternoon).
Pousada Bouyra was, without a doubt, the best vacation of our lives, and we can’t wait to return. We stayed for two weeks with our infant and 4-year-old, and honestly, we wish we could have stayed even longer. It is the perfect blend of luxury and nature. Our exploration of nature began each morning at breakfast, where a different species of bird would make an appearance in the trees nearby. One morning, we even had the chance to feed a wild macaw. Our days were spent paddleboarding and swimming in the river, hiking along the trails, and encountering new wildlife seemingly every day. Some of the incredible animals we saw up close included tapirs, capybaras, ocelots, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, river otters, two types of toucans, pacus, armadillos, lizards, Brazilian foxes, small anteaters, giant anteaters, macaws, and countless bird species. Exploring hidden waterfalls became a favorite activity, and our son couldn’t get enough of jumping from a tree into the river. For those who prefer lounging by the pool, the swimming pools are beautifully designed and a perfect way to relax. At night, we would take slow drives along the well-maintained dirt road, spotting nocturnal wildlife along the way. Contrary to what some might expect, the road is smooth and easy to navigate—even a sports car could handle it. Along the river, we used bug spray and never had any issues with insects. One of the most magical parts of our stay was being surrounded by birdsong throughout the day—it was a constant reminder of the untouched beauty of this place. The staff is what truly elevates this place from simply being beautiful to feeling like home. They were always smiling, happy, and genuinely interested in hearing about our daily adventures. They even helped us identify some of the species we encountered. Their kindness and dedication were never more evident than when our son had a medical emergency at 3 AM. Already stressed about his condition, our worries were compounded by not speaking Portuguese. Then, to our immense relief, Fernanda appeared at the hospital in the middle of the night to help translate and comfort us. It was an incredible act of kindness that we will never forget. Another thoughtful moment came when the staff learned that I loved trying new and exotic fruits. One evening, they surprised me with fresh cashew fruit (caju), something I had never tried before. Many of the staff spoke English, and those who didn’t were adept at using Google Translate to communicate seamlessly. Even the cleaning staff added personal touches, arranging our children’s stuffed animals in adorable ways after making the beds. Not only did we take photos of the breathtaking scenery and wildlife, but we also took pictures with the staff—they became such a special part of our memories here. The food at Pousada Bouyra was another major highlight. Each day, we got to choose from a curated menu featuring a local cuisine option (our favorite), a contemporary dish, a vegetarian option, a children’s meal, and a delicious dessert. Since we had dietary restrictions (gluten and dairy allergies), we notified them in advance, and they went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, tailoring each meal without compromising flavor. Another unique aspect of the property is its abundance of fruit trees. We got to pick and eat jabuticaba for the first time—an experience in itself! With only 12 rooms on the property and guests dining at different times, every meal felt intimate and private, adding to the exclusivity of the experience. Final Thoughts I cannot recommend Pousada Bouyra enough. It is the perfect blend of nature and five-star luxury, offering an experience that is both adventurous and deeply relaxing. Whether you’re looking for breathtaking wildlife encounters, warm hospitality, or world-class dining, this place has it all. We will absolutely be returning in the future, and I encourage anyone looking for a truly special getaway to experience it for themselves.
Absolutely amazing , stayed here on our two week trip around Brazil and this stay was hands down the best we had been. The service was impeccable and the staff were so friendly. It's a bit further out from the main city but it's quiet and relaxing. Barbara the receptionist was excellent and translated for us throughout our trip also booking our trips for us too as well as arranging a taxi. Rooms were also lovely, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves - thank you Pousada Boyra.
