Premier Hotel The Richards

Hotel was under construction. Pool not available, restaurant not available. Place was like a ghost town. Just 2 cars in the parking lot. Traveled for almost 3 hours to enjoy a weekend away but sadly didn't get any of that. The room was cold. Too much of metal, from the headboard to the table, lamp posts, chairs. Floors felt dirty. The bath was the only enjoyable thing. I'm sure it's going to look great after renovation but the construction should have been mentioned the website. You are misleading guests and have robbed us of a first great experience in Richard's Bay.

I stayed at this hotel for one night, and it was by far the worst experience I’ve had in terms of safety and security. The first room I was assigned could not be securely locked from the inside. The main lock was faulty and couldn’t be engaged, and there was no secondary lock to provide additional protection. Concerned, I requested to be moved to another room, but the second room had a similar issue. As it was already late and I had prepaid, I reluctantly stayed the night, securing the door with furniture as a precaution. At around 11:30 PM, I was awakened by the sound of the furniture being moved. I shouted out, startling the intruder, who then fled. This was an extremely distressing and dangerous experience. I paid ZAR 1,400 for a room where I did not feel safe and was nearly robbed. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. Again, DO NOT STAY HERE. Sleep in your car if you have to.

Stayed here for a night on a business trip. Hotel is lackluster in every respect. Rooms are dated and bathrooms look grubby. The hotel used to be a fine establishment but had since nosedived. No towels in room. The furniture in the lobby is filthy with the upholstery looking tired and dirty. Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Will not be using this hotel again.
