I recently had the pleasure of staying at Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Johannesburg Melrose Arch for a team-building strategy session, and the experience exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was seamless — check-in was efficient, and my room was fresh, spotless, and very comfortable — exactly what you want after a productive day. I was welcomed with a thoughtful letter from both the Guest Relations Manager and the Hotel Manager, which added a personal and warm touch to our stay. Breakfast the next morning was a highlight. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like VIPs. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the spread was absolutely delicious. Thuso, in particular, stood out with his excellent service — always ensuring my coffee cup was full and checking in to see if we were happy. Even more impressively, both the Kitchen Exec and Hotel Manager took the time to visit our table and even sang for us — a truly memorable and uplifting gesture that added a personal and joyful note to our morning. The conference spaces were outstanding — immaculately clean, well laid out, and fully equipped with a PA system and data projector. It’s clear that the team took great care in preparing the venue, which contributed to the overall success of our strategy session. Overall, the hotel delivers a perfect balance of professional service and warm hospitality. I highly recommend Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! The location and rooms are excellent but what makes this hotel truly standout is the absolutely exceptional service - every staff member has been incredibly kind. The breakfast is also amazing with something for everyone. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and I've now changed upcoming reservations from another hotel to Protea Fire & Ice after such a great stay!
