Protea Hotel by Marriott O.R. Tambo Airport

I stayed here July 2024 while it was still under construction. The service wasn't that great and the constitution created some issues. It has improved significantly. The service was excellent. The rooms are very nice. Everything was great. The airport shuttle is efficient and ran exactly on schedule. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choices. I absolutely love the airport theme- nice touch with the runways painted on the floors!

A month ago stayed overnight at the hotel. The room was a good size and clean. The aeronautical theme throughout the hotel including the rooms was great. The restaurant food was good. All the staff were welcoming and very friendly. To have the airport transfers included in the room rate was an added bonus as other hotels charge for this

The rooms were basic but comfortable while we waiting on our flight the next day. The shuttle does not go often enough to the airport. We saw other hotel shuttles come 2 or 3 times before ours got there. That was a little irritating. The location was great for in between flights. There is nothing else near except the airport, so don't expect to do much outside of rest or take a 30 minute Uber somewhere. Service was OK. The front desk was nice. The restaurant staff was just OK and eluded to expecting a nice tip several times. The food at the restaurant was good and reasonably priced.
