Pullman Canned Mandelieu is a superbly located hotel, 15 minutes drive from La Croisette in Cannes. I am frequent guest of this hotel (over 25 years), and have witness many changes over the years, not all for the better - unfortunately... The property itself is a bit outdated, but as I understood, there is a plan for a major upgrade within the next year. As for the beach, it remains clean with clear water, however climate changes are perfectly noticeable. The sea is eating up sand beach, but is still a wonderful place to be. Service (as for beds reservation at the pool and beach, requires more attention. I booked 15 days before a specific beach bed, and it was not honored. Had to change place every day during my over a week stay. Food offer at the pool does not offer many choices, and has not changed over the years. As for the staff, everyone tries their best to fell us welcomed, but pool staff changes every year... My special thanks goes to Marie Voyer, in charge of Marketing and Guest Experience for her kindness over the years! I strongly recommend this hotel, which still has a casino access on the ground floor, and I felt it is "out of place".
DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! Absolute waste of money. The first room we were placed in (which was already upgraded because there was problems with the original room), had no air-con at all. The air-con was not working - we allowed to give it time throughout the evening to see if the room would cool down but it did not. The room was so stuffy and hot it made it difficult to breathe. We then got moved again to another room where the air-con worked when you first walk into the room, but we would still find ourselves waking up from naps or sleep sweating from the heat. All the air conditioning systems are ANCIENT and DO NOT WORK. Another thing is you have to pay for sun loungers as a guest - which surely should be included in the hotel fees? And lastly the restaurant food is absolutely terrible. There are 2 separate restaurants and the one won’t allow you to order from the other. After I placed our orders I got told about the other restaurant (which had vegetarian options) which the first restaurant didn’t have - I had to order side dishes. I asked them to cancel our order so we could move over to the other restaurant AFTER ONLY JUST ORDERING and they told us no. We then proceeded to wait 50 minutes for our food to arrive - they hadn’t started cooking the food but refused to let us cancel. While sun lounging my partner ordered a club sandwich - it arrived with the bread all soggy and wet - leaving him to return it and order another. The ONLY good thing I can say about this hotel is that there is a fantastic receptionist who is the kindest of souls, a young lady. And perhaps the view. Otherwise. You are paying for shit service, shit food, and shit Accomodation.
It was clearly stated on your website that dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, by the pool, or on the beach. We specifically chose this hotel because of that rule. But it was absolutely not enforced. This was clearly not just an accident — we saw dogs inside the restaurant every single day, during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Staff were even bringing them water bowls, which is fine if pets are actually welcome in those areas. But then you shouldn't advertise the opposite policy. Your own website states the following, word for word: "Good to know: Pets are welcome in the rooms (maximum of two per room). However, they must be kept on a leash in common areas and are not allowed in the restaurant, bar, pool, or beach for everyone’s comfort. Additional fee: €20/night per pet." That is crystal clear — no room for interpretation. But worst of all: In the middle of the day on a Wednesday, a stripper was performing in the shared space between the pool and the elevator to the lobby. This is absolutely outrageous and completely unacceptable at a hotel that markets itself to families with children. What kind of place allows that?
