Punthill Apartment Hotel Flinders Lane

For the price, I believe that the Punthill Apartments Flinders lane is one of the best centrally located places in the city where I've stayed in Melbourne. I will definitely be using it from now on as one of my go-to accommodation stops when I'm booking a Melbourne city trip. The rooms are basic but have everything you require for a comfortable stay. You can either choose to shop at one of the major supermarkets just around the corner and eat in, or you can eat out at any of the number of restaurants and cafes that are but steps from the door.

The rooms were basic but clean. There was no information in the room as to where the laundry was (there is one on every floor). No room service on weekends but there was a cupboard to get what you needed which was great but the location wasn't clear on arrival. The tap for our bath wasn't working but was fixed when we got back the next day which was fantastic. We didnt have any dealings with the staff apart from check in and out and asking them to fix the bath but they were efficient and friendly. One thing that differs Punthill from the rest of the self contained apartments was little salt and pepper packets provided. I've never seen them provided anywhere else I've stayed and thought this was a great touch. Id advise the addition of a dustpan and brush as we had chip crumbs that fell on the carpet that we were unable to quickly sweep up. The building was old but hey its in Melbourne. We found the room quiet, no noise from elevator which we were right next to or other guests. Definitely would stay there again. Great location and great for the price.

We stayed in room 401 which was a studio apartment. The studio is advertised on their website as having an oven, dishwasher, and a bath tub. Our room had none of these options. The information on their website is wrong! When this was bought to their attention, they apologised but did nothing about it. Also the floor tiles in the kitchen were broken and the microwave had no power point available in it's little pigeon hole, so we had to move it to be able to use it. They love to use the key phrases to de-escalate a situation in their communication with you, but do nothing about the issue. We were stuck with the apartment and no resolution was offered. So if you are offered room 401 don't accept it, it has none of the features offered on line.
