We dropped into this stunning place unplanned and were not disappointed. Although this is a 5 star hotel (Hyatt) we requested either a drink or a quick bite and were greeted by a friendly young woman who referred us to the cafe area and assured us we could have either. Once seated another lovely host (Lovelace) greeted us and offered us drinks or a light lunch or high tea (as it was now nearly 2:00). We went with the high tea and were not disappointed. (See their website for description of food). We were regularly (but not too often) greeted by another host (Emily) to ensure we had everything we needed and clear the table. While the inside of this building is stunning and beautiful in every way, it was also a wonderful experience eating such quality and delicious food with outstanding service from Lovelace and Emily. Thank you ladies for making our experience so memorable.
The Place One of the most beautiful and luxurious restaurants I’ve visited in Budapest. The atmosphere is elegant, spacious, and very classy. Location Excellent location, very central, less than 500 meters walking from our hotel. Service Smooth and welcoming reception. Staff were friendly, polite, and professional. Food Great variety on the menu. We tried: • Budapest Soup: Delicious with a little spicy touch. • Steak: Good, I would rate it 8.5/10. • Chicken with Mashed Potatoes: Excellent and highly recommended. Atmosphere Calm lighting, beautiful decor, and live music that added a great vibe to the experience. Notes • Prices are reasonable considering the quality and service. • Toilets were clean and tidy. • Seating was comfortable and flexible. Downside Unfortunately, the security guy at the entrance was very rude and unprofessional — it didn’t match the elegance of the place at all. Overall Highly recommended if you’re visiting Budapest. The experience was lovely, and I would definitely come back again.
The service at the café was just okay. However, it was surprisingly difficult to get the waiter’s attention to ask for the check. We made eye contact, but he continued walking in another direction. I understand he might have been serving another table, but all I needed was a small gesture — I wasn’t even going to call him over. After waiting quite a while, I finally spoke up again, and he replied with “check, right?” before walking away. This made it clear he had heard me earlier and simply chose not to respond. The dessert tasted like it was brought in from the bakery next door and was definitely not worth the price. The coffee was plain machine-made coffee with nothing special about it. And on top of all this, we were charged an extra 20% service fee. It feels like they’ve sacrificed substance for style, trying too hard to look upscale while completely missing the mark. Wouldn’t return, nor recommend.
