Stayed twice in this hotel - in a suite and in a superior double room. Both room types are nice, boasting a great view out the window and a big bathtub. Breakfast was delicious with a wide range of choices (warm and cold buffet made of fresh ingredients). Cozy sitting area in the hotel lobby with free warm drinks for Strawberry members. Game rooms for both adults and children.
Having stayed in another quality hotel, this one was definitely not as nice. By all means it was fine to stay in, but I would not say it was anything special or worth spending lots of money on to stay here. The hotel and rooms are quite dated and probably need a refurb so they look as good as other quality hotels as currently it is not on the same level as the others that share that name. The rooms are spacious and the bed is comfortable plus free breakfast but that's probably about the only positive things from me. Our shower screen sat weird so the water coming out of the shower (which was as strong as a full force hose by the way) ended up going all over the bathroom floor which I quickly noticed it flooding a bit so had to cut the shower short and be done with it. The hairdryer also took literally forever to dry my hair. The bedding also smelled stagnant so I laid on my back all night to avoid smelling it as much as possible. The pillows were also quite small compared to the other quality hotel that we have been to which had large luxury ones. The TV in the room is entirely pointless because there's only about 3 working channels and is not a smart TV either so didn't get used. There's also a lack of plug sockets in the room. My side of the bed did not have one, and the room only had 3 plugs in total which isn't ideal when we have several things that need charging. Overall, it's fine but it's not anything special or luxury or on par with other quality hotels under the strawberry chain. The room had some issues which were a small hassle and disappointment. The hotel says it has good links to the centre but to be honest it's still quite a long journey especially with a heavy backpack so I would just choose a hotel in the centre if you don't have a car.
My family and I stayed at this hotel for three nights and four days. The location of the hotel was good, easy access to the train and bus station, and the hotel was clean. The breakfast was good. Unfortunately, they are extremely poor in terms of service and have made it a rule for themselves to clean the rooms and change the bath and toilet towels every four days. This was one of the most ridiculous rules I have ever seen. On the third day we had to ask the reservation desk to change our towels and give us toilet paper.
