Staff was truly amazing. Everyone focused on the guest experience. Russ, the asst mgr, did a great job leading the team. Here from America for part of family trip with the wife’s Scottish family. Great time! Went to the Luss Highland games and the Balloch falls while here. Drank too many pints! Lucky that F1 race was on channel 4 as they don’t have Sky Sports!

Choose this for the 0.5km walk from Balloch train station, nature feel and a good base to explore this area of Scotland. Room was clean, area was safe and is surrounded by a wall of shrubbery for the countryside feel. Easy to access trails and do several walks and access tourist services. Check in reception is at the adjoining pub. My room did not have a view but was quiet and had space and a good-sized bathroom. Had 2 single beds and could be too small for tall people to have a good sleep. Impressed with the food and the Carvery at the pub next door. Can book daytrips online to see more of Loch Lomond at Scotland Wild tours.

The room was well proportioned and appropriately kitted out, with decent amount of tea and coffee. The shower was nice and powerful. Appreciated that the shower curtain was weighted. Room could have done with a fan provided as room temperature was over 24C. Air conditioner was weak, so relied on open window instead. Also, a mini-fridge would be welcome, though appreciate a lot of hotels don’t provide, there was a local farmers market where we bought goods that we had to dispose of as had no way to store in the high heat. Bath was very high and could have done with a handle on wall for stepping in and out of bath, this would be essential for elderly or more infirm customers. Would also highly recommend providing duvet options at booking stage. 10.5 Tog is far too thick for the warmer summer weather we are having, we needed to take the duvet out the cover and just use the duvet cover to be comfortable. This is not unique to this hotel, it seems to be a significant problem in hotels across the U.K. We had breakfast in the neighbouring bar, it is at extra cost, but very reasonably priced with all hot breakfasts including continental breakfast within the cost. Overall, I was impressed with the hotel and would happily stay at a Marston’s again.
