Quest Mackay on Gordon

Fabulous spacious room. Great location, everything you could ever need is within walking distance. Really lovely staff.

The Quest in Gordon is a well appointed and comfortable hotel within walking distance to a Coles and restaurants in town. This is a regular choice for me when travelling to Mackay for work.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our recent stay. After a 7-hour drive, we arrived to find only two towels and no face washer provided. (3 adults) When I called reception, I was told to come down and collect it myself—even though there were two staff members present, which was quite frustrating after a long trip. The room itself had noticeable stains on the walls, and overall, the cleanliness did not meet expectations. One of the two swipe cards we were given did not work, which caused a significant disruption. I mistakenly used the faulty one to go out and grab food, only to find I was locked out and needed my family to come down and let me back in. Just to add, the body wash was out by our third night. One would think that when they service the room, they top this up for you. No seemed to take that extra care of us, for us, it felt like once you have checked in, you on your own! Sadly, the service and attention to detail were lacking, and it left us feeling quite unimpressed. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously to improve future guest experiences.
