Quinta Das Tilias

Lovely house with huge grounds. We stayed here for two nights as a family of five adults, with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. We cooked meals in the spacious kitchen, used the grill outside and though it was too cold to swim - was wonderful to sit by the pool to read with the magnificent view of the Duoro river. There are no neighbours close by so the children could run around the grass and not bother anyone and the three bedrooms (each with an on-suite) are spaced enough apart as to have privacy in-house as well. Highly recommended, especially for a couple of families travelling together with kids! The housekeeper is also lovely and the house was absolutely spotless.

A five-star experience for the mind and the soul! We arrived for only 2 nights to the quinta, as base home for a business meeting nearby. As days passed, we kept prolonging and prolonging our stay - as the experience was just TOO GOOD TO END. The Number 1 thing is obviously the view - for us, it gave such space and tranquility which is hard to get when one is inside on a rainy weekend. Number 2 best thing was the fireplace - the warmth and atmosphere the live fire (and the wood chopping!) gives, elevates the stay to another level. The house is spacious and full of light. Huge garden, even good to walk or swing. Or a wedding? :) The dining room and kitchen is fully equipped - we could have amazing meals with a great view. If you're lucky, you spot some orange trees in the neighbourhood for your breakfast juice ;) The host, Marcus is super-professional and very caring. Manuela, who handles the keys and the cleaning: a gem. Very nice person who will entice you with the details of how the people live in this region. Like that, you have yourself a full experience.
