We have been here for 2N and can recommend this Wine Hotel by 100%. The service is very warm and friendly, the room and view guarantees memorial relaxation. The rooftop pool gives a360°-view over the wine mountains and Dourovalley. We did the wine tasting which also gives a lot of information over the region. Everything in this house is very tastefull. Even the private road is steep but good to drive through its basalt-stone surface. Thank you for everything. The only improving point we like to mention, some technical details need better maintenance. Loose bath mirrors or towel hooks should not exist in such a nice building.

Avoid having dinner here at all cost! Their menu changes every day and I had “seafood pasta with shrimp” on the menu when I visited. However, as you can see, there’s only codfish and absolutely no shrimp in it! When I checked with the server he said the shrimp was used to make the sauce, but believe me, I cook as well, there’s absolutely no taste of shrimp in the sauce! I suspect they used the codfish from yesterday’s leftover to substitute shrimp because I do see codfish on yesterday’s menu. This is by far the worst meal I’ve had in Portugal. And probably the worst seafood pasta as well. You can only taste the peppers and no seafood. One small thing that annoyed us as well - we asked if the bread was chargeable when they served the bread since we noticed there are some hidden charges in Portugal. Then after that the server started to emphasize “free of charge” when he served everything, the olive oil, the olives, the refill for the bread (we said we’re good when he asked if we wanted to refill but he still served anyway), and we even heard him mentioning “free of charge” in English in his Portuguese conversation with his colleague. We couldn’t help but think he’s making fun of us, which really didn’t help to improve the already bad dinner experience. The room is okay during daytime with the supplement of the view but at night when you turn on the pale white light, the room suddenly turns into a hospital room. The front desk in the next morning was kind and helpful, and thus the 2 star service is for him.

Stayed here for one night with a group of seven, occupying four hotel rooms. When we arrived they let us know the hotel restaurant would have no space for us. This was after two staff members got into a fight in Portuguese, which they obviously assumed we did not speak, where one staff member kept yelling that we would have to leave at the staff member who was trying to help find solution. In the end, they apologized they didn’t ask us if we would want to eat onsite before. As it’s in the middle of nowhere, down a very windy narrow road, I’m not sure where else they expected us to eat, but we decided to make the best of it. We were accompanied in the bar, which had a very limited menu. Additionally many of the drinks we asked about couldn’t be made as they were missing ingredients even though they were on the menu. Though there were not many choices for dinner (salad, hamburger, or tostas) the meals were actually fairly tasty. The downside was there were no tables to eat at, so we ate at coffee tables. Things took a turn for the worse at dessert, when our four kids were served a red fruit salad with curdled whipped cream on the top. We were told the kitchen was hot, as if that’s an excuse from serving spoiled milk, and they told us they would not charge us for the rotten desserts. Thanks? After dinner we went upstairs to find one of the beds full of ants. They had to change the sheets and spray the room. Add leaking showers, broken railings at the pool and not enough pool loungers and it’s just not a place I can recommend at all. Additionally, it’s a wine hotel but with no wine tastings and two wines total on offer- their house red and their house white.
