Hi, I found a review card when I unpacked and decided I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed our visit and stay at Quinta Mirabela. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The reception staff helped us a a number of occasions and had helpful advise about destinations around the island. I’d like to also call out the restaurant where we had a fabulous dinner. Again the staff made the night special. My daughter was looking forward to the pool but alas, between weather and timing we never got to use it. Thank you especially for the little beautiful cake that was made for my birthday. It was a nice surprise and splendid treat. Kudos to the pastry chef. Lovely to look at and lovely to eat. I hope to return someday.

Very nice hotel, lovely clean rooms, attentive staff, food delicious. But, even though I'd read the reviews, I drastically underestimated the distance from the centre, but worse than that, the severity of the roads 🫣. I am a fit person, but these extremely steep roads are just prohibitive to get about on foot. Luckily, 6 days a week, there is a courtesy bus available twice a day! And boy, unless you have a car, or use the local bus, just a short (steep) decline to get to, that courtesy bus is essential! The upside is that the views from the hotel are phenomenal 😊 Overall, though, if I were to go neck to Funchal... I would book a hotel within the town.

We chose this hotel for our seven-day holiday in Madeira. There are enough parking spaces, which was one of our most important criteria. However, you should bear in mind that it is located at the top of Monte, which makes it somewhat difficult to reach. But the view is phenomenal! The hotel offers a shuttle to Funchal three times a day, which is a nice touch. The rooms were OK — a little rustic, but that's a matter of taste. The bathroom, on the other hand, was nice: big and modern. The only downside was the general lack of soundproofing. You could hear the neighbours' dogs barking and other guests talking. But totally unacceptable was the WiFi! Sometimes, Google wasn't even available due to the poor connection. There were two days when the weather was bad and we were ill, so we weren't really able to do anything. Considering it is a '5-star hotel', this is pretty embarrassing in my opinion. We even had better internet connection at the airport or on the third biggest mountain in Madeira... The service was fine — not exceptional, but everyone was friendly. One thing that bothered me was that when my boyfriend was ill with food poisoning, I asked twice for camomile tea (Saturday night and Sunday morning). The first time, the waitress was really nice and gave me some. The second time, however, another waitress gave me some and said, 'Technically, I should charge you for this, but since your boyfriend is sick, it's free.' In my opinion, that was kind of rude. Obviously, my friend could not attend breakfast due to his illness. Did they want him to come to breakfast and throw up on the table so that the tea would be free, since it was included in our booking? It makes no sense to me. Overall, we were happy with our choice. Still, there were many critical points, such as the WiFi or the service/facilities. So, in conclusion, it was a nice hotel, but definitely not a five-star hotel by German standards.
