Quinta Solar da Portela

Booked online a few hours before arrival then followed google maps navigation to the location, but there seems to be a bug and google takes you past the hotel about 5 miles to road marker 666 which I thought that was a sign of things to come. Made my way back and discovered I'd actually driven past the hotel which is sited on the road just before you enter the town but easy to miss. Reception were very friendly (and confirmed other guests had the same navigation error) and the room was comfortable, clean and tidy with private bathroom and a nice powerful hot shower. Breakfast is served in the restaurant and in typical of a continental breakfast but plenty of choices.

I really enjoyed my stay here. After cycling up from Faro, Gonzalo was very welcoming and made the check in very smooth. I stayed in a wonderful, very modern, and comfortable room overlooking the pool. Being Monday the main restaurant was closed but Gonzalo offered various food options from the different local restaurants who delivered to the room, which was absolutely perfect, super tasty, and great value. After a quiet and comfortable nights sleep, breakfast was served in the restaurant. Fresh warm breads, croissants with local honey were delightful. There was cereal and many other options to choose from plus freshly sqeezed juice and good coffee . I never used the pool, but it looked very inviting. A superb place to stay made even better with really friendly staff. Thanks Gonzalo

My colleague and I stumbled across this restaurant by accident. It had a homely feel, the food was good, our waitress was great offering great advice. I definitely recommend it.
