Radisson Blu Hotel Athlone

Nice, large room. Would be ideal for a long stay. Unfortunately we were only there for 1 night. We had a deal for bed, breakfast and a 2 course meal. Breakfast and evening meal were great and the weather was good while we were there so we really enjoyed the outside terrace bar. It was busy and the staff had to work very hard. Special thanks to the housekeeping staff. The room was so big I left some clothes behind and they left them at reception for me to collect. I was only too happy to make a return visit.

We stayed one night in a family room. The room was spacious and clean, but the pillows were uncomfortable. There was a strange taste in the tea and coffee—we initially thought it was the kettle, which was quickly replaced upon request, but the issue turned out to be the water itself. Even the tap water had a noticeable moldy smell. We also used the pool, but the changing rooms were poorly maintained. None of the four shower stalls had any shampoo. While the room itself was nice, the overall hygiene and water issues make it unlikely for us to return.

We had a wonderful experience thanks to Michael, who served us during dinner. He was incredibly nice and friendly from the moment we sat down. Michael was also very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. His chatty and warm personality added a personal touch to the evening, making us feel genuinely welcomed. It’s rare to come across someone so naturally engaging and professional — he truly made our dining experience memorable. Thank you, Michael!
