Radisson Blu Polar Hotel Spitsbergen

Excellent wheelchair accessible hotel (apart from the hot tub - which is lovely and hot but has a few steps leading up to it). The lock in the wheelchair accessible toilet in the reception area is too high but we reported it. That aside this hotel is in a great location with lovely views. Breakfast was good - especially the donuts! Everything is in walking distance or you can hire a bike very cheaply from Tourist Information which also has nice souvenirs. Walking alongside the coastline from the hotel (towards the husky kennels) was magical on a sunny night even at 1am!

We had a very pleasant stay and would like to extend our thanks to the entire team for their warm hospitality. The rooms were clean, practical, and well laid out, providing everything we needed for a comfortable visit. The staff were consistently helpful and approachable, always willing to offer advice or assistance whenever we needed it. One of the standout benefits of this accommodation is its location – just a short and easy walk to nearby shops, restaurants, and amenities, which made getting around effortless. The only minor improvement we’d suggest would be the addition of proper blackout blinds or roller covers for the windows. With 24-hour daylight during our visit in May, it was quite difficult to simulate night-time for sleep. That said, this is a small point in an otherwise enjoyable and restful stay. We’d gladly return and happily recommend it to others.

The hotel has 128 rooms in two buildings, well-located hotel in the center of Longyearbyen, just 100 meters from the Svalbard Museum and the main street. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable, with reliable hot showers. We stayed with two small children and they were very comfortable. The hotel offers a convenient airport shuttle service at multiple times throughout the day. We especially recommend the pub, which has excellent value for money – we enjoyed it even more than the restaurant. Breakfast is a decent buffet to start the day. Not a luxury hotel, but a perfect base in the heart of town for exploring Svalbard.
