I stayed at the Radisson Hotel in York for a week in early July, and I was thoroughly impressed. The rooms are modern and well-kept, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The highlight for me, though, was the quality of the food, it was consistently delicious, and the bar staff were exceptionally friendly. The hotel lobby has plenty of seating, a very relaxed atmosphere, and was always spotlessly clean. All the staff were welcoming and helpful, and there was always plenty of seating available at breakfast. The location could not be more perfect, right in the heart of York with easy access to the central loop, the Minster, and everything the city has to offer. And speaking of the Minster, the view from the room was stunning, it’s absolutely worth upgrading for. Highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in York.

Stayed here for 1 night in the summer holidays (Monday). The lady who helped us with the self check in at around 3.30pm was so lovely and friendly, a real credit to the hotel. We paid for a room with a river view and it was a really nice view on the 4th floor. Geese were a bit noisy at one point in the night, I think they were having a scrap. The hotel is so well positioned for all the main tourist attractions. We visited the Castle Museum, Dick Turpin's grave and York Minster and walked around about three quarters of the city wall. Bed a large and very comfortable. A very nice room. We will hopefully be coming back again as there was so much we didn't get time to see and we would definitely stay here again.

En-route to Scotland we booked an overnight stay to break the trip with a Superior room with river and minster views. Our son/his family had room 711 which did afford such views, even from lying in bed! what a great view to wake up to. We had room 713 which had views of the rooftops of York and the sky - because the bed was the opposite way round, unless you stood at the window you didn’t get the said views. The room itself was well appointed and the espresso machine was a good addition, even decaf coffee was provided which rarely happens. The bathroom appeared relatively new and was lovely and clean with ample supply of towels. The rain shower was nice but not very powerful and I find for those that don’t want to get their hair wet, the option of a side slide bar shower head would have been useful. I’m not a fan of the self serve check in/out either, I would much rather interact with a human, as would others due to the queue to see the one person on reception duty. I would have given a 4 star review but, the main reason for my poor review - I managed 4 hours sleep. I am a light sleeper and the rooms on the river side of the hotel will give you loud thumping music and the loud chatter of people in the bars and clubs until 2am. I do not recall any mention of this on the website otherwise I would have requested a room on the other side of the hotel. Due to the lack of sleep I am not looking forward to the 6 hour journey I have to drive today. All in all I would recommend the superior room but the noise/music was a real issue for me and you should take this into account when considering the type of room to book.
