⭐️ 3 out of 5 – A Deeply Disappointing Stay That Reflects Neither the Brand Nor a 5-Star Standard As a frequent global traveler and someone who has stayed in this very hotel nearly a decade ago, I returned to Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Trabzon with high expectations — only to find that the experience has drastically deteriorated on nearly every level. Let me outline the concerns with full transparency: 1. Poor Welcoming and Service Culture: From check-in to checkout, the hospitality felt forced, cold, and often inattentive. Staff across several departments seemed disengaged or untrained. This was in stark contrast to what one would expect from a 5-star hotel — or from any Wyndham-branded property. 2. No Sense of Value for Money: Despite the exaggerated pricing of amenities and services (closer to Swiss luxury levels), what we received was neither aligned with those rates nor reflective of international hospitality standards. The hotel experience lacked the refinement, elegance, and accountability that we regularly see in hotels across Switzerland and Northern Europe. 3. Inability to Deliver on Basics: A hotel in Turkey should, at minimum, be able to serve a proper cup of Turkish coffee. Astonishingly, even this was a struggle — both in taste and presentation. 4. Poorly Trained and Arrogant Restaurant Staff: We found the staff at the buffet and restaurant to be inattentive, unprofessional, and even dismissive. Basic etiquette — such as acknowledging a polite request — was often missing, and the overall energy was rushed, cold, and mechanical. 5. No Accountability: Even when concerns were raised, there was no evidence of follow-up, no apology, no corrective action — just silence or a shrug. 6. Swimming Pool Area – A Serious Letdown: The lifeguard grudgingly brought towels, the tables were left uncleaned, and there was no staff presence to maintain the space. The area looked unattended and unwelcoming. 7. Inconsistent Housekeeping: On two separate occasions, after our room was cleaned, the tea tray was left unstocked and the water bottles were not replaced. It took multiple calls to the front desk to resolve what should have been a routine responsibility. 8. Cafeteria & Shisha Experience – Overpriced and Underwhelming: A shisha priced at 1750 TL is simply unjustifiable, especially given the lack of a menu, the slow service, and the under-trained staff. We have experienced far superior service at a third of the price — even in the most elite hotels globally. 9. Decline Over the Past 10 Years: Having stayed here a decade ago, I can confidently say this hotel has regressed in every aspect — from staff professionalism to cleanliness, from service reliability to guest engagement. What was once a gem of Trabzon has become a place where first impressions are ruined by carelessness, and basic guest needs are overlooked. By contrast, during the same trip, we stayed at the Mövenpick Istanbul (Eyüp) — and the experience was nothing short of marvelous. From world-class service to elite dining at Arça restaurant, from transparent guest relations to precision in every detail — they reminded us what true hospitality feels like. This hotel (Ramada Trabzon) has really outstanding infrastructure, but lacks the soul of service and the leadership to revive it. I sincerely hope the management takes guest feedback (not only me) seriously and initiates a full operational review — before it loses the trust of returning guests entirely. Here’s the English translation of your review: ⸻ The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. After keeping us waiting in the lobby for an hour, they told me that the room I had booked a month ago through Booking.com was not available, and that they would give it to me the next day — even though I was only staying for two nights! Instead of the corner suite with a sea view that I had booked for a relaxing family trip, they gave me a business room 😳. This clearly shows poor management by both the hotel and Booking.com. The hotel manager, Mr. Amin, only gave me a regular room after a long argument, and refunded part of the amount for that night. The next day, after more delays, they finally gave me the room I had originally reserved. I am absolutely not satisfied — they ruined my day, and neither the management nor the staff knew how to properly communicate with customers 🙁.

Dear Hotel Management, I would like to share my feedback regarding my stay. Unfortunately, I found many of the staff to be unprofessional and unfriendly. In the morning, when you go to the buffet and ask for something, you often get ignored—especially by the female staff. I have always made my requests politely and respectfully, even offering tips, but I still received cold looks and poor service. Additionally, I kindly ask that you improve the cleanliness of the hotel items and room facilities. Many of the towels were stained and not properly cleaned, and the furniture and decor did not appear well-maintained. This is supposed to be a 5-star hotel, so please make an effort to meet that standard. Thank you for your attention.
