Rayfont Downtown Hotel Shanghai

Hotel was one of the good hotel in Shanghai to stay. Location was good with nearby public transport including a metro station, a lot of restaurants were nearby & shopping was at walking distance. It had four big & tall buildings. Room was good with good street view. Breakfast buffet hall was big & served good food. People at front desk were polite. Hotel was neat & clean. A good place to stay while at Shanghai.

Amazing view if you can book one of the top floors as the rooms are higher than the avarage height of buildings in shanghai. The location is great, former French concession is easy to reach by walk. However the hotel is quite old and not so nice anymore. The rooms and appliances are very old. Tower one is under renovation so this should get better.

Although you can still book a room in this hotel, it does not exist anymore. I spent couple of nights here 7 years ago, so I booked it again this fall. After arriving in front of the building I discovered that there is no hotel anymore and it is now apartment building where locals live. Fortunately, I got my booking fee back from Chinaholiday.com service, that apparently manages the former hotel's website.
