It's a cooperative that sells Mayan handicrafts. It also has a buffet restaurant. The service and the food is excellent.
We were brought during our excursion to Chichen Itza. Definitely a tourist trap but you're on vacation. Food was ok.
Is this really a tourist trap? I tend to agree based on our tour group’s visit here ahead of visiting Chichen Itza. Real Mayab Hotel was our first mid-morning stop in the Yucatan. This hotel also doubles as a Mayan tourist shop offering obsidian, trinkets, alcohol & cleansing ceremony. We roamed around for some time, checking out trinkets that were supposed crafted by local families with their names inscribed on tags. This was followed by an included buffet where drinks were additional fee as per tourist pricing on the wall. The servers pushed for most guests to order drinks to go with their meal. The tacos here tasted okay though you had to wait for the group to order drinks first before joining the slow line. Before buffet, a photographer took photos of all guests. After visiting Chichen Itza, he came on the tour bus to peddle a Mayan bottle of Yaax Kin drink that was $20 USD with your photo on it!
