Reef Encounter

My husband and I stayed on Reef Encounter for 2 nights/3 days with the top deck club and also got open water certified. To say it was the experience of a lifetime is an understatement. Our instructor Ellis was excellent in all areas. I was quite nervous to try scuba in the ocean for the first time, and Ellis was exceptionally patient, encouraging, and helped me feel more comfortable and confident under water. The reefs and sea creatures were breathtaking, and we even got to do a night dive once we were certified. It was clear that the entire crew was so happy to be there, highly organized, worked well together, and ensured we were comfortable throughout our stay. The service and food was also wonderful. We highly recommend choosing Reef Encounter no matter your experience level with scuba!! We will never forget this incredible experience!

We did a 4 day live aboard with my wife and 2 kids. The weather was variable but the snorkelling was fantastic. The crew were wonderful. Captain Matt made sure the girls didn't get bored. Dive master Rodrigo knew the girls name by heart as they were the only kids on board. Claire always spoke in French to the girls and Maria made sure everybody had plenty to eat. The food was great and we always felt taken care of on this trip. Many thanks to the great crew.

Reef encounter was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I am so happy my sister and I did! The crew was so friendly and accommodating and made us feel so well taken care of throughout our entire trip! The room was nice with a comfy bed and warm showers, and the meals were well-balanced! This trip gives you a ton of water time (it feels like every time you turn around it’s time for another water session since there are 5 optional sessions per day) but that allows you a lot of time on the reef to see all the beautiful coral and fish! I decided to get dive certified (open water) on the trip and while this was a slightly bigger venture than I originally thought, I am so happy I did it and could not have asked for a better instructor for my course! David was such an incredible teacher in the water and I could not have asked for a more patient and calm instructor while I was learning how to dive! He helped me through my many anxious moments and made me feel safe and comfortable while underwater! He made me feel confident in my diving skills and he was such a great guide for all the dive spots we went to! I highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants to dive or snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef as all the dive guides and instructors were awesome! If you want to see the reef, I think this is the best way to do it!
