We really enjoyed our five night stay at this hotel. I would say that some of the reviews are accurate as we did have some issues with the room. When we arrived there was no hand wash, shampoos or soap and we had to wait until the morning which they were happy to rectify. We also had a drainage issue in our room which flooded the bathroom and trickled into the room. Maintenance were very quick to sort the issue out. In terms of food I don't understand some of the reviews as there was a wide selection every night. Throughout our stay we enjoyed so many different cuisines and couldn't fault it at all. Overall lovely staff who are very friendly but there are obvious signs of tiredness with regards to the hotel rooms and could do with sprucing up.
Really confused by the negative reviews as we had a gorgeous week at the Regency Hotel. We arrived at 12pm and our room wasn’t quite ready, but we sat in the foyer and then were taken to lunch. Achref on reception made us feel looked after. The room was spotlessly clean and had a balcony. It wasn’t the most modern room, but it was spacious, had a safe and a large wardrobe. At first we couldn’t get the AC to work, but you just need to ensure the balcony door is closed. It’s not very strong, but we just slept with the balcony door open. Towels and bedding were changed daily and the small shower gels were replenished. There was a small fridge in the room but it wasn’t especially cold. The food wasn’t five star cuisine, but we didn’t feel the need to eat out as there was a good variety every day. Food was fresh with a buffet, as well as an outdoor grill with rotating options and a pasta bar for fussy eaters. We saw families with children requested their table be stocked with a bowl of chicken nuggets every meal. The drinks selection was good with beers on draught, fanta and coke available by the glass and large bottles of water. At the pool bar there was a menu of cocktails but Mohammed was an incredible bartender and would make whatever you fancied. The pool was never too busy, but we were kind enough to the life guard that he had a bed ready for us most days. The playlist could do with updating, but it was largely inoffensive. We were sold some excursions by Ali Baba and managed to haggle down the prices, by all accounts we got great deals! He was kind and spoke many languages. The absolute highlight of the hotel was the incredible staff. Everybody spoke English and was excited to talk to us! The animators go out of their way to make sure everybody feels included, from the smallest child to grandparents. There were daily activities (aqua aerobics, olympics etc.) and a show every night with dancing. Special shout out to beautiful Mamcita, Bob, Mado, Wadhja and Zizu for being lovely. The wait staff went above and beyond. We got exception service from everybody but especially Belagem and Malik. I am dedicating a different sentence to Bassam for his dedication; our glasses were never empty, our plates were cleared within seconds and he made sure to have our favourite table ready every evening. Despite working very hard he always had a smile on his face. The few negative staff members were the grey haired restaurant manager and the man who works in the gift shop. We regularly saw the restaurant manager shouting at staff, even when they weren’t doing anything wrong. The wait staff remain calm and do amazing work even when the restaurant is so busy, it’s hard to watch them get reprimanded. The man in the gift shop was incredibly pushy, followed women to the pool and had strange vibes. All in all, the Regency was a bit outdated, but for a budget hotel was fantastic. Promote Bassam, Bob and Mohammed, have grilled chicken on offer every night and make the air conditioner a bit powerful. We would definitely come back!
Not the best place here but not the worst, rooms are very dated with showers that are hit or miss, sometimes they are warm or stoned cold or even no water pressure, toilet doesn't flush and the Double beds are just 2 singles pushed together, I would rate the rooms at 2 star maximum. Main reception has 2 plug in air-con machines that's it, restaurant has one above the door but it's not air conditioned as it's always boiling, bar area has a couple of ceiling fans but again no Air-con. Toilets s in the lobby next to restaurant smell really bad by mid afternoon you can still smell them by the lifts. Food on our first week was amazing and all local dishes then on our second week we couldn't eat in the restaurant as the food was so bad, fish was like Rubber, beef couldn't cut it with a knife, pasta dishes had no flavour at all. But rest of the place is clean, staff are very friendly and go above & beyond to help, the bar areas are very under staffed but they do their best to cope and please everyone, We wouldn't return to this hotel but would definitely come back to Tunisia
