Stopped at the Regency Park hotel for a family wedding. We booked 2 rooms that were perfect for our use, clean well appointed and comfy for our short stay, we arrived early for our check in, the room was not ready but they let us get changed in the health club so we can get to the wedding which was extremely helpful. We had breakfast the next day, which was very nice and l would happily use them again.

Carpet could do with a bit of TLC but I guess it's to be expected from older buildings. Regardless of the place usually it's the staff who gets my stars . I went to a five stars hotel where the staff acted like royalty, hated everything about it. But not at the regency they smiled! They were polite and friendly totally enjoyable experience.

As a regular traveller I can honestly say that The regency park hotel is possibly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. It was like stepping back in time. The entire experience was almost comical. Starting with the reception that seemed to never have staff on it because they are too busy out the back sleeping or away for a wander. The only lift to our room was broken which the receptionist failed to tell us when we checked in and so we had to lug 3 heavy suitcases up the narrowest, sweatiest and smelliest back staircase to our room. The bar was closed at 10pm when we arrived we weren’t able to get a drink and then the restaurant was also closed with no option for room service or a snack. What hotel doesn’t do room service? The following afternoon the restaurant and bar were also closed however I was eventually given a random sandwich menu from the receptionist which was abysmal. The rooms were like the pits of hell. No aircon. Horrendous water pressure and taps that don’t know if they are hot or cold. The bed was hard and lumpy and the entire hotel has this putrid yellow tone to it highlighting how old and tired the entire place is. From the outside it actually looks like an old folks retirement home. The carpets are worn down and old, the furniture is like it’s from a charity shop and the staff were all friendly however utterly clueless and unhelpful. The only thing the regency has going for it is a semi decent old gym from the 80s. We eventually had the opportunity to try some of the cruising on offer at breakfast - sadly I wish we hadn’t. Apparently asking for some scrambled eggs is too mind blowing for the staff and chef to comprehend. It’s safe to say that we will never be returning here and we couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
