Rooms were very nice with some very good facilities on site such as bike hire and free (complimentary) shuttle services available. The AC didn’t work very well and the hospitality was not at the level that a hotel of this stature should carry. The check in experience was poor and not very welcoming in the slightest. Despite this, I enjoyed my stay and loved visiting Amsterdam!
I really wanted to experience 4,5 stars! It was by far the worse service I’ve ever received especially with my Bonvoy status. On a positive note, rooms were very clean. Once I arrived from my nine hour flight into Amsterdam I called hotel to request an early check-in and they told me it is okay to check in early and I would be charged $10 an hour up until 3p check in. Once arriving to the property around 930ish, they advised me they did not have any rooms ready so I waited 4 to 5 hours to check in at 3 PM. I was not offered a snack, or even water! I watched them check in 2 people come right in and get checked in. I locked eyes with the front desk, cant remember his name but I gave them a baffled look and they came over and told me they had a room for me. Once I got in the room, the AC would not kick on. It was 80° in there. I called down and they told me to give it 20 minutes, but I had been waiting for such an extended period of time already. I went back downstairs and was advised the floor they put me on does not have working air conditioning. Once they found a different room everything was fine, but I have never had such terrible hospitality, the welcome was not up to par and my food was not appetizing for the prices! (They were unable to even make the simple, like Nachos). God bless Priscilla. She worked the evenings, and she truly redeemed my experience! She had a kind, warm and compassionate heart of hospitality. SHE deserves 5 starts.
Check in 130am. Room AC didn’t work. Hot water didn’t work. Front desk said she would call to inform me about breakfast. She did not. She said she would send am engineer to fix, no one came. I called again. I asked for another room as it was nearing 2am. She called back 2 min later and said she sent someone up to give us new key. 15 min went by. Well after 2am. I called, a gentleman answered. Said she had not made the key yet so he couldn’t deliver it; then hung up on me. Called back 10 min later, another lady answered. Said an engineer would be up to fix. Confused, as they were changing rooms. Waited 10 more minutes, wife then went downstairs asked them to get us a new room. Then said they don’t have any more rooms. Then someone from the back said to give them “that room”. Finally got a new room. Got to sleep at 3am. Shower had mold on floor. Don’t book here if service and need your room to work. Bed and pillows were comfortable
