I’ve been coming to the Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel since 2018. Previously, I stayed at another Marriott property nearby, but when the GM Pearl, transferred, I followed. I’ve stayed at other Marriott’s in the Beijing area including the JW Marriott, but prefer this property for many reasons. The Executive Lounge at this property is by far, one of the best I have ever seen and I have been to Marriott properties all over the world. The staff there speaks great English and is very knowledgeable of the Beijing area. Being a Marriott Lifetime Titanium, one of the benefits is the breakfast. This used to be served in the Executive Lounge and when I arrived for this stay I was told that the breakfast is now served in the restaurant downstairs. As I have mentioned before, I have stayed at many Marriott properties all over the world. This breakfast is absolutely one of the best I have ever experienced at any property. The evening “dinner” is also more than enough and changes daily. The lounge is spacious and quiet for those who want to wind the day down. If you ever are in Beijing, you ought to try to stay at this property and I am sure you will be as please as I am with the property and service.
Our stay at this hotel was truly exceptional. Awesome beds and the best breakfast in our whole Asia trip. We especially want to highlight the outstanding service provided by the concierge, Michael. He was incredibly helpful with booking events and gave us fantastic recommendations. His excellent English and friendly manner made communication easy and enjoyable. Thanks to Michael, our trip was smooth and unforgettable. A big thank you to him and the entire team!
I usually do not add reviews because most hotels from the Marriott family meet expectations. However, this time unfortunately it was not good. It started with problems with check-in because the person checking us in did not know English at all (my husband and I even asked if we could talk in English and we were informed that he uses that language)! the biggest disappointment was the breakfast: during the first breakfast the staff informed everyone around us that breakfast would be over in 15 minutes, completely avoiding us. we did not receive any information during check-in about the duration of breakfast and we thought it was until 10:30. At 10am all the food was already cleaned up and we were left without breakfast. the worst experience was the racist behavior of the staff at the "eggs benedict" station. my husband asked the cook for one egg for himself and one for me. he heard a categorical refusal that he could only have one. my husband made sure several times that there was no misunderstanding, then left a plate with one egg and walked away. let me just mention that everyone before and after him in the queue received any number of portions. Due to the fact that the service does not seat guests at a table and that single people occupy the largest tables, there is generally a lack of seats and it is not possible to hug the family at one table. add to this an unfulfilled request for a roll of toilet paper (I am still waiting for it) and a 5 cm hole in something that resembles a toilet door through which all guests can hear each other - the stay was not very successful.
