If you're looking for a spot in Brussels, especially if you're hitting up the European Quarter, the Renaissance is right there. Super handy, literally a stone's throw from the Brussels-Luxembourg train station. Super easy if you're arriving by train. Just a heads-up though, it's a bit of a walk to the main metro lines if you're planning on zipping around to the Grand Place and other city highlights. Rooms are decent, fair size, nothing to complain about there – you've got space to chill. Now, for you elite members, the breakfast has a room which is a plus. You'll find some great yogurt and nuts to kickstart your day, which is a big win. But, honestly, don't expect a huge spread of bread or a massive choice for your main course. And for a Belgian waffle... well, it's there, but maybe not quite what you're dreaming of. Then there's the lounge. You've got access, which is cool for those usual two-hour happy hours. But here's the thing: the food selection can be a bit hit or miss. We only had one day where they brought out the good stuff, like those tasty fried shrimp and veggie samosas. Other days, it was pretty standard. So, overall, great location if you're by the European Parliament, rooms are fine. But I'd say they really need to step up their game on the breakfast and lounge food front for their elite guests. Could be much better!
Disappointing Experience – Not What I Expect from Marriott I recently stayed at this property and was extremely disappointed by the handling of a basic amenity: air conditioning. As a Titanium Elite member, I expect a certain level of service and responsiveness, and unfortunately, this stay fell far short. I was provided a new room but it also lacked AC. On the third attempt, I was provided the same, original room that lack AC!!! This sequence of missteps was frustrating and unacceptable, especially given my loyalty status. I hope Marriott takes this feedback seriously and follows up regarding appropriate compensation for the inconvenience.
I stayed twice at the Renaissance Brussels Hotel this month (4 nights each stay), and both visits were deeply disappointing—especially as a Titanium Elite member who has stayed 169 nights with Marriott this year. Where do I even begin? • No Room Cleaning for 3 Days: Despite requesting housekeeping daily via the Marriott app and room phone (and removing the “Do Not Disturb” sign around 2 PM), my room was never cleaned once. Strangely, the app showed that it was cleaned, which was blatantly false. • Basic Amenities Denied: When I asked for slippers and a bottle opener, I was told to pick them up at the front desk. No delivery was offered—not what you expect from a premium property. • Unclean Room on Arrival: The toilet was visibly dirty when I checked in, and the reusable water bottle was grimy and clearly not sanitized (I’ve attached photos). • No Room Upgrade or Recognition: I was placed in a “Club Access” room, which was the same category I booked and offered no upgrade. As Titanium Elite, I already receive lounge access, so this “upgrade” was meaningless. • No Welcome Letter or Amenity: I usually receive a welcome note or fruit platter at other Marriott properties, but not here. It felt like my loyalty meant nothing. • Unfriendly Service: A staff member in the club lounge was noticeably unwelcoming. • Broken Facilities: The only water dispenser on my floor was broken. • Early Morning Disturbance: My in-room phone rang at 7:30 AM with no one on the line—completely unacceptable. To top it off, Marriott Corporate offered me only 5,000 Bonvoy points as a goodwill gesture, which is a token amount and frankly insulting considering I have over 300,000 points and the level of inconvenience I experienced. This hotel does not meet the expectations of the Renaissance brand or the Marriott Bonvoy program. I strongly urge management to take these concerns seriously and other elite members to consider alternative properties in Brussels.
