The building is dated, but they have done great work keeping up appearances. My room was an entry-level suite, and I had plenty of room for all my gear. New TVs in the main room and the bedroom were nice for downtime. Lots of business folks stay there, so the lobby can get a bit loud in the evenings after drinks start flowing.
I’m genuinely surprised this property is part of the Renaissance brand. Unfortunately, the facilities and service standards fell far below what I would expect — especially from a Marriott-affiliated hotel. We stayed in the largest suite, yet basic amenities were missing. There were no conveniently located power outlets to charge our devices, and no USB plugs — something even many 3-star hotels now provide. The bathroom was disappointing: the toilet paper was extremely thin, the bathtub was clogged, and to my concern, I developed a skin reaction and rashes on my legs after the stay. Breakfast was another letdown. Despite being told there were no available tables, half of the dining area was visibly empty. Most surprising of all, I was told that ordering an omelette would incur an extra charge because it’s “not a standard egg style” — a first in my experience, especially at a hotel of this supposed calibre. The overall atmosphere of the hotel felt hollow — a large space, but lacking warmth, attention to detail, and any sense of hospitality. Sadly, the majority of staff we encountered were unfriendly, and the experience was far from what I would expect from a Marriott brand.
I’m genuinely surprised this is a Marriot hotel and that it has as many good reviews as it does. I’m highly pissed I stayed and never will again this is a basic cheap hotel with 4 star prices. Everything in the room is old and outdated. There’s no washer or dryer as listed. The staff is rude and unaccommodating. Their beds are like sleeping on rocks! Hard and unfortunately and to make matters WORSE!!! There’s two huge empty parking lots but your forced to pay $40 to park in their parking garage so they take even more for there crap hotel. I’ve stayed at the majority of Chicago Marriott hotels and I still say this is by far the worst!!!! I’m so unhappy about what I spent to stay here. In cannot wait to check out. Marriott owes me my money back for this crap. This isn’t worth a penny of $99 a night might as well stay at La Quinta inn same quality never again in life will I stay here again. Save your money this is a 2 star hotel at a 4 star price
