I stay at this hotel frequently for work, and it has become one of my go-to spots in Minneapolis. One of the things I appreciate most is the convenient self-parking lot behind the property—a rare perk in this city, where valet is usually the only option. The hotel itself is stunning, especially if you’re fortunate enough to land one of the historic suites. These rooms are incredibly spacious and thoughtfully furnished with beautiful antiques. They’re not for everyone, which is why the hotel also offers a more modern wing with sleek, contemporary rooms. Personally, I love the historic side—it has a slightly eerie, haunted charm that gives it real character. The building is a converted train station, and its architectural details are absolutely gorgeous. The location is also ideal—right by the river, perfect for a morning walk or evening stroll. And don’t miss the coffee shop next door; it’s fantastic. All in all, this hotel offers a unique blend of charm, comfort, and convenience that keeps me coming back.
I spent one night here with my adult daughter in May 2025. We had dinner in the hotel, easily walked to the Guthrie Theater for a play (with umbrellas very kindly provided by the hotel staff), and had a lovely quiet night's sleep. The staff, everyone we interacted with, is outstanding. Our meal in the restaurant was delicious and they got us out just in time for our show. The rooms are on the smaller side, but are beautifully done. The entire hotel complex, including extensive event space, and the attached Residence Inn, are terrific. We parked in the underground parking garage, which was very convenient. There is a fun photo opportunity in the lobby and a Dunn Brothers coffee right next door. We will definitely stay here again, and I would highly recommend this property.
Nice service, great location, but I woke up with three spiders in my bed and a nice spider bite to go with it! I couldn’t figure out why I was having trouble sleeping until I saw one of them out of the corner of my eye. Peeled back all the sheets and found this spider and two friends. Perhaps somewhat questionable hygiene practices… bed bugs are one thing, spiders are another. Never seen something like this before and I’ve traveled a lot! I was offered 15,000 bonus Marriott points for my trouble, but I’d much rather just have had my $260 stay refunded. When you pay that kind of money for a hotel room, you expect better. Nice place and people, but man, I will never step foot on this property again!
