Feels like you’re at a retreat with the convenience of being a quick uber ride away from everything! 5-star hotel experience. Swimming pool is of adequate size - I was worried it’d be small and crowded but it was a perfect size with steps to sit and relax on. There weren’t always pool chairs available especially during peak hours of 11am to 2pm but there was some sort of seating you could find. Rooftop bar was good - nothing extraordinary but they were decent hotel prices but worth the cost. I’d recommend the hummus + sushi rolls! Receptionists were all great and quick to help. Breakfast was 18Euros a day and in my opinion worth it for the convenience - they had scrambled eggs, baked beans, toast, some pastries, selection of fruit and cereals. Rooms were cleaned to perfection everyday - my room was closer to the elevator and was cleaned around 1-2pm which felt reasonable. Temperature of hotel was also perfect for me personally, I prefer it to be on the cooler side.
I am truly amazed by the quality and creativity of the food offering here. Breakfast, snack bar and restaurant are all serving great food, down to the smallest detail. Even the ketchup and mayo are amazing. 😄 There is a good amount of vegetarian choices available. I am simply in love with the food here. The staff in the restaurant is super nice and polite.
The Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel has a modern design, but its location is somewhat removed from Porto’s main attractions. It takes about 35 to 40 minutes to walk to the waterfront. While the walk to the river is downhill and pleasant, the return journey is an uphill climb that can be tiring. We arrived at the hotel in the morning and had notified the staff of our early arrival. Unfortunately, our room was not ready, so we left our luggage and headed out for brunch. A couple of hours later, we were given a room—but it turned out to be one of the least desirable in the hotel. Located on the first floor, it was near an open area above the lobby, which meant noise from the bar and guests passing through. More than half of our window was blocked by a concrete wall, so natural light was minimal, and the only view we had was of run-down buildings across the street. As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member, I was disappointed with the room assignment and expected a better experience. That said, the hotel’s breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great selection of fresh items, and the service in the restaurant was consistently warm and attentive. Overall, while the service and dining were commendable, the room quality and location left much to be desired.
