Great place to stay. Good location by the port. Breakfast was plentiful however it had the worst scrambled eggs I've tasted for years. Obviously made with powder.
It’s a lovely hotel to stay, equipped with a small kitchen. The room is clean and air conditioning is quite ok in summer. It’s about 15 mins walk to the old port and 20 mins walk to the central station. There was strike during our stay, no metro and not every bus line was on service. We had to walk to the central station. This area is relatively safe and quiet. Drawbacks of the hotel: shower head cannot be fixed and keep dropping down, the hotel should have checked the facility, coffee and tea will not be refilled.
I stayed for 3 nights in June. This was a first trip to Marseille and the accommodation choices didn’t seem great. Most places I considered seemed quite dated including some of the more upmarket hotels (Sofitel, etc). I ended up choosing Residhome as it seemed relatively new, well located and reasonably priced. I had a standard room and this was fairly basic but very clean and well maintained. Importantly, the air conditioning was excellent and returning to the room was always a great refuge in the 30+ degree heat I encountered during my visit. Bedding was comfortable and I didn’t notice any street noise despite being street facing and located on the first floor. The location was indeed as good as expected. It was a 10-15 min walk to prime tourist spots such as Vieux Port and Le Panier. There was a large shopping mall (Terrasses du Port) just a 5 min walk away, and a subway station as well as a large supermarket within a short walk as well. I tried breakfast one day and it was quite basic and charged at €18. I wouldn’t recommend this unless it was included or if going for the convenience (there were plenty of local cafes nearby). I hardly needed to engage with staff during my stay but found them pleasant enough upon check in and out. The room was well made up daily. Overall this stay exceeded expectations. It’s a well located modern hotel, nothing fancy but it offered clean and quiet rooms with good air con. I couldn’t have asked for more at this price point (€170 per night).
