Resort San Martino & Spa

Planning to visit Tuscany, we looked for a hotel that would serve as a basecamp instead of hopping from one place to another. We chose San Martino Country Resort and we were amazed by the beauty of this place. It's surrounded by nature and it offers everything anyone would want. All major places to visit are within reach; close to Cecina Beach, Pisa (50 minutes), Firenze (90 minutes), Siena (90 minutes, Pienza (the Gladiator scene) and even the thermal baths from Saturnia. The scenic routes through Val d'Orcia and Val d'Elsa are also very accessible from this hotel as a starting point. We were delighted from the first minute we arrived at the hotel. A large parking space, a very warm welcome, very friendly staff, always smiling and helpfull. Beautifull clean rooms with air conditioning. The new owners (since a couple of years) are clearly working hard to turn this into a success story. This place offers a great wellness experience with amazing massages (my wife and I both took the "RIS-ZEN massage twice- highly recommendend). Breakfast has everything one could wish for and more... The restaurant with its amazing staff is fantastic, the chef must have golden hands, every dish was delightfull and tasty as one would wish for when eating in Italy and especially Tuscany. The hotel has a large swimming pool with sunbeds and lots of shade if you want to hide from the sun. This place was beyond any doubt one of the best places we visited. We highly recommend it! Usually we never go back to any place we already visited but in this case we are reconsidering…

Great stay in Tuscany, hotel room was big, only bathroom could need some refressing, shower small for tall guys. The sofabed is ok for small kids but a bit too hard for adults or teenagers, you might want to add a topper on it. In house Spa is great, the pool is gorgeous, dinner is even better. I have never experienced such a fantastic halfboard offer. Big thanks to the chief in the kitchen

Very disappointing stay! The rooms are outdated and dirty. The air conditioning was only in the bedroom and didn’t cool properly — especially frustrating since our kids had to sleep in the living room with no AC at all. The sofa was stained, the tiny kitchen was dusty, and the bathroom was full of mold. The shower cabin was so small you could barely move. When we asked for cleaning after a few days, they only offered it for an extra €50. The pool was dirty, and the staff was unfriendly and completely lacking in hospitality. We ended up leaving early. Definitely NOT recommended.
