Retaj Royale Doha

The Retaj group has a lot of properties in the city and this is one of them. The ambience is quite good and the staff are super helpful and friendly. The menu is good and the room service excellent. I have visited the place on several occasions to meet visiting friends. I liked the general feel and look of the hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for 11 days in may 2012. We were two persons in double deluxe room. This is such a nice hotel with nice staff in general. The rooms are very big, our room was about 65 m2 and with very nice working desk and very fast internet connection (10 mbit/sec download and upload). Re Single rooms are also very big, this hotel is perfect if you have work around Doha Airport region and you are there for work. In my rating, this is 5 star. Breakfasts are fine as well. The only thing I complain is the woman with scarf at reception called Sheila. She was so cold. All other staff is excellent people.

Staff service was great. The design of the hotel lobby and room is good and I can see much is given to quality yet attention to minor details are lacking. My room cannot be locked from the inside as the latch on the door looked as though it was ripped off. I didn’t change room as I arrived almost 2am and was too tired to change room after having to go down to reception to as for help as room key didn’t work after I checked in. I was told the room key doesn’t work when it was late. Not sure how late though so there is a time set to it. When I turned off the master light to sleep, the power plugs electricity were off as well so my handphone and devices didn’t get charged. This is kind of inconvenient. The great plus point was they allow late check out up till 5pm if you have a good reason, like late flight.
