After arriving from Athens airport, the Hotel Rex is beautifully located and venerable from a bygone era, after the first few kilometers. Visibly old, but clean and centrally located, parking in front of the house, pedestrian zone directly behind it, orange trees all around. Restaurants close. Good address.

During our second time we visited this hotel we were disappointed. The room, curtains and it's aircon had a strong smell of smoke. We asked to move to a non smoker room but to our surprise we were told that all rooms are accommodating smokers! That's crazy in 2024! Anyway Hotel is being advertised as a 4 star hotel but in reality the rooms, baths, beds and furniture are so old that they should be 2 stars at the very best. Unless it has a massive renovation the 3 or 4 stars are not a fit for this hotel. Previous days we were staying at a 2 star hotel and had a luxury bath and fireplace in the room. Breakfast was nice and staff is polite and ready to help too. Location is excellent too if you want to explore the city etc.
