Rio Sagrado exceeded my expectations! The room was stunning, the staff were absolutely amazing and the food at the restaurant was delicious and 5 star quality ! The service was truly some of the best I have experienced with little added extras and surprises throughout the stay. It’s a peaceful, relaxing stay. Feeding the alpacas was a memorable touch! Special mention to Dany who was fantastic and so lovely at every meal. Would 10/10 come back and recommend to everyone!
So the location is beyond review. It’s totally amazing listen and watching the river go by. The amount of green space is incredible. The alpacas running around and feeding opportunities is so cool. I loved that they had a soccer ball and other things out to play with. The rooms are nuts. We stayed in the large villa this time but have stayed in the regular rooms in the past and they were great as well. As far as the service goes. Food service is slow but that all of Peru. There was a mistake in there system on what we reserved and so we missed out on some benefits in the start of our trip. But that’s ok because the hotel and Javier in particular went above and beyond to square it all way. I think it shows more when there is an issue and they fix it then if things just are normal. The spa was also very nice. Kids loved the pool I loved the chairs by the river.
The quiet and serene vibe was much appreciated. Everything was tastefully done without being too showy. The staff was attentive but not overbearing. The hotel capacity isn't large, so there's not the usual crowds and noise like the larger hotels so you can enjoy the peace and quiet. There is a wonderful restaurant on site serving great food ( and teas ). I appreciated not having to fight the typical meal rush and was able to enjoy the hotel and all it has to offer. I believed our stay was in the "off season", so that may have been the reason for the smaller number of guests, but it's appreciated nevertheless. Overall, I can't imagine a better base camp when visiting Machu Picchu and the surrounding area.
