This is my last day at Riu Palace Costa Mujeres. I really enjoyed my stay here for 10 day. Food was excellent and service was exceptional. My server on the beach Julio was amazing. He had my drink every day ready for me and he never failed to make my family laugh. Also my favorite spot for lunch on buffet balcony with Packo was amazing. He would have our table ready with our drinks. Everything was clean and nice. I love this place and I would definitely come back and suggest this place to my friends.

We’ve stayed at this resort three times already, and overall, we really enjoy it. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is tasty, although it often repeats—more variety would definitely be appreciated. Another issue we noticed is the slow service at the specialty restaurants. Additionally, some dishes there are the same as those offered at the buffet, which management might want to reconsider. Rooms are relatively clean and conveniently located—it’s never a long walk to the beach, buffet, or restaurants. Special thanks to two photographers I met—they were fantastic and took some excellent pictures for us! Highly recommend their services.

Good: rooms were clean, variety of restaurants, grounds were nice, beach was decent, most staff spoke some English, very family friendly despite 24-hr access to alcohol. Bad: double beds instead of queen beds, couch in room is NOT a pullout bed, ordered room service twice and it never came, awkward room set up with bathroom and shower, scuba caribe (plz don’t book through them), the only ATM machine didn’t work, Globo Cambio exchange folks speak almost no English, the constant pressure to tip for EVERYTHING, the gym is WAY TOO SMALL(!!!!!!), guests put towels on chairs EARLY and hardly use the chairs, Recommend: bring several hundred USD in small bills for tips, use ATM at airport to get pesos, don’t use Scuba Caribe, don’t do the Jungle Safari, use AMStar for airport transfer, use Best Mayan Tours for Chichen Itza and ask for Alondra, walk down the beach for a massage instead of using the hotel, Not recommended for guests without kids. There’s got to be a better place with less kids if you are traveling just as a couple.
