Rivendell

Room was clean and tidy. Plenty of tea and coffee with biscuits left for us. Shower was nice and hot with all soaps/shampoos left in bathroom. The breakfast was a cooked English breakfast which was tasty with coffee and fresh juice.

Excellent value and a nice stay. ROOM We had a great night's sleep and a good shower. Room fits style of the house. A few tweaks (bigger, fluffy towels and a valance for bed base) would take it to 5. SERVICE Breakfast was lovely. Nice dining room, nice music, perfectly cooked eggs and quality bacon. Very good waiter / chef made it a good experience. 4* because the house is bedrooms, dining room and private (kitchen & office). So arriving ~8.30pm we phoned to get code for key safe and let ourselves in. Made me realise how much difference a friendly face makes. First impression was shabby (hostel) but this morning I really appreciate the house. We paid under £60 for B&B but this place is worth much more ( especially with a little tlc / spruce up ). My 4* is just to set expectations. LOCATION we needed a stopover as we were travelling Aberdeen to south coast. This is worth the detour from motorway ( hook back via Gretna ) and Dumfries has a lot to offer. ( Casa Mia highly recommended for dinner ).

We recently stayed at Rivendell and we have to say that we had a really nice stay here. We booked for 2 nights and slept very well both nights. Plenty of parking, house was very well presented and the room had everything we needed including a very comfortable bed. The chef was very accommodating, food was excellent and he even gave us some background knowledge of the area and the football club Queen of the South ( who we were going to watch on the Saturday ). We would definitely use this guest house again and we would also recommend it to others. The price was really great and so we felt we had great value for money here. Thank you for making part of our weekend away that much nicer. Brandon and Sharon
