River View Resort At Chaewlan

Cool place, on the river and very forested. Great restaurant and drinks on site. Close to the National Park and lake. Kinda pricey but it’s a tourist area and the cabins are really cool, have A/C and have a private feel. Nice staff. I really enjoyed it here:)

In my opinion the rooms are not as bad as I read in the comments. I found them really nice, they have air conditioning and a nice balcony. It is true that it smells a lot in the morning. I was only bothered by the staff in the restaurant, which is very unprofessional. They are very friendly but also very slow. The restaurant was not very busy when we arrived but we still had to order food and drinks at the counter. We sat at an empty table for more than half an hour because they forgot our order. Then we asked them at least for a drink. After an hour they only brought one dish, they forgot the other again. Luckily we only stayed one day. If you come here, I recommend you rent a scooter because that way you are not tied to stay there all the time, because the place is quite far from everything

The rooms match the price - don’t expect luxury or city type comforts from a cabin in the woods for 20€ and you will be alright. Yes, there might be mosquitos or bugs but that’s part of being in nature. I found it very tamed and didn’t even need to use antibug spray. The cabins are clean and the river view is nice. It’s a good place to stay for 1-2 nights to do the day trip in the lake. It is very remote with nothing around so bring snacks :) The service is appalling and brings the review down. The staff don’t speak almost any English but they also seem not interested in service. Every interaction we had with them was painful, trying to explain or ask basic questions about room, food or check in with the help of Google were met with lots of confusion and little care. I was walking down the bridge by the river and my foot fell through making a hole in the old surface. I ended up injuring myself and with a fright but when I told the reception they didn’t seem to care or take any preventions from ensuring this doesn’t happen again. The bridge by the swing is dangerous and should be closed down as it breaks under your feet! The food in the restaurant was the worst we had in Thailand, little choice, watery soups, dry rice etc. They would get our orders wrong and we had to wait for a long time even when it’s not busy. Once we were refused dinner saying the restaurant was closed with no prior warning. With no other food options around, we were left starving and had to leave early to airport without breakfast. Next time I would stay somewhere else, although the cabins are not bad but the interactions with staff drained my patience and the restaurant is one I would happily never come back to.
