A resort on the Danube that sees heavy use. The rooms were nice but dated, trying to take a shower at 6'2'' without spraying water all over the bathroom was comical, save yourself the trouble and just take a bath. The back deck was a fabulous place for dinner do to the view. It seemed most of the staff was new and hired on for the summer season making for a less than seamless dinner service. Overall a good place to stay and rest your head.
Hotel is very nice and well maintained, beautiful location. but design of the whole place feels dated (like a place from the 80’s). Not necessarily a bad thing, just saying. It is not the easiest place to navigate around the first time due to multiple connected buildings at different levels, some doors are locked in the evening, so you need to go around. Once you get used to the routes it is ok. Another thing that added to the confusion is that the logo and name from the website (Donauschlinge River resort) was visible only on one flag behind the building. The rest of the building has old markings, so when I arrived on a bike after all day ride I was not sure if this is the right place or should I continue further and look for another place. It was also a bit confusing where the reception is as it is a bit hidden behind the cars parking. There is a lot of parking space around, storage room for bikes, small bike shop in the building, decent playground for the kids and a lot of green space behind the building to relax. Restaurant has a lovely view, food selection was very good both for dinner and for breakfast. Food taste was very decent for a hotel restaurant, but not above the usual hotel standard. Nice touch was that for those who leave early, you can get a lunch packet with a sandwich, water, some fruit and a sweet snack for the road. Staff was friendly, but not everyone spoke reasonably good English. There is a very nicely designed small swimming pool, unfortunately when we tried to use it in the evening the water was quite cold. Possibly because of low traffic and late hour they were saving some energy. I had not chance to use the Spa area as it was already closed (it is open 14-20 only), but it seems nice when I looked thru the glass door.
Stunning riverside restaurant with panoramic view of the Danube from the outside terrace. Friendly staff who were very accommodating. I had the salad buffet. It was tasty but the flies lingering about were off putting.
