Loved our stay here! Very friendly service at the front desk where we got several personal recommendations for the area - restaurants and places to do. The rooms are huge apartments with washer-drier, full kitchen and multiple closets. You have everything you need to stay here comfortably for days or weeks. Design is nice though the building itself isn't brand new, it feels more like a rental unit or airbnb - bit worn and lacking some of the hotel features like central light switch. But frankly none of that took away from our experience. Area feels like the place to be. Central, nice vibe and great restaurants around the corner. Admittedly we were woken up at 6am by construction work but I think it was street work and not an everyday thing.
Beautiful building with character, and a comfortable “home away from home”! Only thing that wasn’t perfect was the rooms/furniture felt slightly dated, and the glass coffee table knocked me in the shins a few too many times as it was hard to see. My sister’s room had an issue with the shower head squealing, but once front desk was made aware they were attentive to our concerns and maintenance was eventually able to fix it. Otherwise, apartment style rooms with in-unit washer/dryer made for an awesome stay! You are able to cook if wanted, as a full fridge/freezer and stove/oven are also available in all units. Location is ideal, with convenient shops (including a Target with groceries) in close proximity. Safety was never a concern, as they keep front doors locked during evening/overnight hours for anyone who isn’t a guest. Jabriyah was a delight, and was the front desk person we interacted with the most - she made us feel so welcome and comfortable from start to finish! Would recommend this Roost location to anyone visiting Philly!
Having an apt style hotel with full kitchen in this area for this price was great. I feel like this place must have been beautiful when it opened (maybe 10 years ago?) - Le Labo toiletries, Sferra towels, West Elm furniture; however, some of the fixtures haven't held up well to a high traffic situation like a hotel or bnb. Amenities were lacking. This hotel is NOT handicapped/stroller accessible (flight of stairs from sidewalk to get to elevator to rooms). No gym, only 1 bike available, coffee service lacking (no coffee filters, only provided beans for 1 cup of coffee for 1 person). Multiple flickering or totally out lightbulbs in common spaces. Some staff were extremely helpful. VERY loud HVAC/construction from nearby/neighbors/hallway (although these are things you'd expect from a city so can't complain).
