Rove Hotel

So I'm giving the hotel 5 stars because, of its kind, it's doing a great job. 5 stars for quick check-in, too. I can't give the rooms 5 stars as it's clearly not The Ritz. Stayed 1 night after chaos at Paddington. The room rate (£134) was unbelievable value for London. Check-in was seamless, and the room was sparkling clean with everything you might need. There's no doubt that the rooms are very compact - my bed was against the wall - but as I was travelling alone, this wasn't an issue. As other reviews have said, you can hear the tubes (and I was on the 3rd floor). That said, they became less frequent and then completely stopped overnight, so I was not disturbed - in fact, given the hotel's location, Norfolk Square was very quiet. For a safe, clean, quick stopover, I'd recommend. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the pillows, which were solid.

Great location super close to Paddington station you can get anywhere easily! Prepare yourself the rooms are very small. There was about 1 foot from the bed to the wall, I had to walk sideways to get out of bed. Bathroom is also very small. I had our clothes in cubes which I put into the small closet space. It worked because you don’t have enough room to leave out your bags. The shower didn’t drain well and I stood in about 1 inch of water while showering. Not ideal, but not a deal breaker. Be prepared you can hear the tube underneath you constantly! We were on floor 3 and could totally hear it. Rooms are not well insulated so you can hear anything in other rooms, above you, or in the hallway. We travel with a sound machine which was helpful. The bed was pretty hard and uncomfortable but we survived. Hotel staff was always nice. Our stay was easy and pretty comfortable for the most part.

The location of Rove Hotel in Paddington is perfect, as with most hotels in the area. However, the service could be much better. We reported that the bed light wasn’t working, and although we were told it would be fixed, nothing was done. There was also some mold around the sink area, which isn’t ideal when you need to place baby items nearby. Disappointing attention to detail.
