A lovely spacious hotel. We got a complementary upgrade which was nice. There's an ironing board, iron, hairdryer, kettle in the rooms. There was loads of communal space to sit down, a bar and restaurant. The grounds looked massive too. We parked at one of the nearby carparks which was £26 for 24 hours. The hotel was a decent price though and in a great location.
We stayed here for one night last week for my daughters graduation at The Pavilion across the road. We didn't eat here as we had a meal booked elsewhere. The hotel was super clean and the staff really were excellent. (Dave on reception was particularly helpful) The gardens were lovely and peaceful with plenty of room to find your own quiet spot and chill out. Our room was plenty big enough and the bed was super comfortable. The decor in the room was a bit dated and had different carpet where a new wardrobe had clearly been fitted. We also weren't able to use our balcony. Other than that, we had a great stay and slept beautifully. It was excellent value for money.
DO NOT STAY HERE! Booked a night away for myself and the wife for my birthday. The hotel is very dated, our room was upgraded so i'd hate to see what our intended room was like. The balcony was closed due to being dangerous due to disrepair. But the doors to the balcony would not close, or lock. I could get my finger in the gap between the doors. Checked the bathroom, the water out of the taps was yellow. When I took a sample to the front desk they told me it was due to the fresh water system being connected to the heating system. Since I didn't want dysentery we brought bottled water in to wash with etc. Staff told me hotel was fully booked and they were unable to switch our room, but it seemed very quiet when we were there. Visited the onsite spa the next day. Had to leave as an old man was using the sauna to dry his smell old clothes. Overall a very very poor experience in a very very old and run down hotel. Hotel have refused to give me a refund.
